When I mentioned that I wanted to do a giveaway yet this month to my mom, she asked “is it because you launched the site about this time last year?”
“No…but that could be the reason!” I replied.
While that isn’t the only reason why we’re having a giveaway today, it is part of it. I enjoy giving things to people, love celebration, and love meeting goals. One of my yearly goals was to have a giveaway sometime here in the first quarter, and with that coming to an abrupt end in about a day, I think it’s about time to try to accomplish that goal!
Like I said before, I love celebration. For the most part, I love this thing called life that God has called each of us to live. And I love celebrating the little things—hasn’t He given us so very, very much? Just pause and look around for a moment, if you’re in doubt. See that bed? He gave you the gift of being able to relax and rejuvenate in sleep. Hear that bird? He made that amazingly complex machine. He made it all. And we should praise Him for that.
Today, I’m praising Him for a year well lived. Yes, I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but He’s been there through it all. Through His love, He has brought many people past this website, and I’m thankful for that. And I hope in the coming year, we’ll be able to help even more people find good books.
Thank YOU, too, for sticking with me through the ups and downs and learning curves and pictures blowing out the side of your inboxes…thanks for understanding. 🙂 And thank you in advance for your support in the coming year.
And now for the giveaway! Since Easter has just finished (how was YOUR Easter?), I’ll do a Bible-themed giveaway. We’ll have several winners, so when you enter you’ll have the chance to receive one of the following:
- A $20 Amazon.com gift card
- Joseph of Arimathea by Sarah Holman: Two Kindle editions (from Amazon.com) of this book will be given away. I was reading this last Easter, and really enjoyed the story!
- More Than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell: One paperback copy, can be sent from Book Depository. So far, this is one of my hands-down favorites in the Christian apologetics world—very practical and readable!
- DVD of ABC Say it With Me: Bible Memory Verses: —Available only within the US. Our family loves this, and I’m sure the younger people in your life would as well.
Note: This giveaway is open worldwide, just as long as you can receive books and gift cards from Amazon.com. Please note that the DVD is only available to people who live in the US.
So in total if you add all that up, we’ll have FIVE winners! Yay!
Enter below. Giveaway begins on March 30th at 7 am EDT and ends in two weeks, on April 13th at 8 am EDT. (I’ll stick with Eastern time—adding New Zealand time to the mix is too confusing.)
And legal info: Want to see the Terms and Conditions for the giveaway? Go here.
May God bless your coming week!
Esther
How did I find it? Facebook. 😉
Main struggles trying to find new books? Making sure the content is good before you buy it.
If I won which one would I like best?? The Amazon gift card. 🙂
Thank you for holding this! Hope you get lots of entries.
I hope so too, Bonnie! Thanks for entering and good luck!
Probably the $20 gift card because I have read More Than a Carpenter and it is really good! and I probably would not read a kindle book. I first found you when you started through your original blog. My main struggles with finding good books are trying to find ones that are affordable and are genres I like but without bad content…. or just what I would kinda call evilness. I read a lot of genres, but prefer, fantasy, si-fi, and dystopian.
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
Proverbs 11:25
Just got this scripture today and see a connection to your on-line ministry. I agree with all that you say about celebrating life, and living it. It is wonderful to look at a bird, and to not see a bird, but as you do, to see the craftsmanship of the Creator, a billion impossibilities all working together proclaiming loudly that ‘nothing is too difficult for Him.’ And to see that ‘all things were made by Him (the Son) and for Him (the Son) and without Him (the Son) nothing would consist that does consist. Let all that has breath praise the Lord!
And it is equally true that a giver can only be a giver if there is a receiver willing to receive. So often it is quoted that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35), which is true, but what if in receiving, you empower the giver to give? Surely then, accepting a gift in the spirit that it is given is a wonderful gift in itself; the body of Christ working together in unison.
And so yes, every day, and every moment is a gift from God, as is every pixel of creation; every layer of reality, and every nuance of divine Truth. Whatever situation or circumstance we find ourselves in, right now, is God’s gift to us. How we respond is our gift to God.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Have a wonderful week! 🙂
Just realised that I have to also answer a set question, so the one that I choose to answer is:
“I’m thinking about putting together a FAQ post. If you could interview me, or ask me any question under the sun, what question would you have for me?”
Here is my question: It is very usual for people who have been bought up in Christian homes, with God-fearing parents to not venture too far from the ‘family religion’. But in your case, you have made a choice to maintain your own faith and live life to a Christian standard which is wonderful and rare. My question is: “What has happened in your life to persuade you of the love of the personal God and His Son, on a personal basis, in a living reality, and when did it happen? (2 Timothy 1:12 “…..for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” )
Oh, I just realised: I actually have two questions. The second is “What do you value most in the world, other than your faith and your family?”
Does that mean I get six entries? 😉
Hi Esther, I found your blog through your mom. ☺
As for preference, gifts cards are nice, but any of your prizes are great! You’ve put together a nice giveaway!
As for questions… I do have one lol. I’m not sure if you know my blog or not, but would you be interested in guest posting there sometime? I love what you’ve accomplished here and think my readers would benefit from what you are doing as well. ☺
Well today, the postman arrived….. and he had in his hot little hand a white envelope…. and in the white envelope, my winnings…. my loot…. my haul, boot and spoils! Thank you very much Esther…. really pleased to have finally won something. I have not opened the package yet – It is on the bench, and will stay there until I have a really bad day…. and then I will open it…. and it will turn the bad day into the best day! A very cunning plan, I am confident that you will agree! 🙂
Once again, thank you and well done on your achievement 😉 I hope that your weekend is going well and that you have a good time in Kaikoura tomorrow.
God bless,
R
